When You're Scanning Your Images

1) Resolution: Select a high resolution quality available, especially for small photos, especially if you just want part of the image cropped smaller than the original.

Typically, for 4x6 and smaller it is best to use 800-1200 ppi (pixels per inch), 5x7, preferably use 600-800 ppi, for 8x10 and larger you can use at least 400-600 ppi.

2) Contrast: Although it is tempting to scan on an "Auto" setting, please don't. "Auto" can destroy a lot of detail in both the highlights and shadows of your image. An ideal scan would be a manual setting with the entire results very dull and gray (not black).

3) Don't Pre-Crop: Tell us what you want and let us do the cropping.

4) Saving: save your original scan as a very high quality JPEG. Do not open and re-save your JPEG as this deteriorates the quality.

5) Email: Email your image(s) to us. Be sure to include a note letting us know to what services you would like done with your image.

Once received, we'll review and confirm your order.

Our Signature Reproductions Can Look Better Than The Originals —When They Were New!

If you look closely, in the "Good" scans you can see much more detail in both the dark areas and the light areas. One of the last stages of quality restoration is to balance the highlights and shadows for optimum appearance, without losing details!

However, even though the "Bad" scans may initially appear more pleasing, much of the shadow and highlight detail is lost. If this image information is not available for the artist to work with, it can never be recovered, regardless of any restoration techniques.

When Only
the Best —
Is Good Enough!

You begin by sending us your original image, so we can provide you with the very best scan obtainable.

But before we scan you image we will carefully, gently and skillfully clean your image. Why do we offer this unique and highly specialized service? — To give you a sparkling clear reproduction!

Over the years a print will acquire a thick layer of dirt and residue (even when it's framed). Most providers don't have the expertise or experience to take away the decades of dirt. As a result, when they scan your print, they are scanning all the dirt and grunge that goes with it. Scanning all the dirt and smudges is a sure guarentee your reproduction will never be the quality it could have been!

Each image is masterfully reconstructed to meet or exceed the quality of the original, the day it was first created. Because Gary knows how your image originally looked, he knows how to properly restore your image to it's original condition.

Our limited Signature service is available for those who demand the very best — and only our best has our signature!
